PRACTICE MANAGER

Alissa is an experienced and dedicated Practice Manager, currently overseeing the operations of two thriving medical centres, with an exciting new location set to open in early 2025. Having been employed by Carrie and Wayne for the past seven years, Alissa’s journey within the organisation reflects her commitment and passion for healthcare administration. In the last three years, she has transitioned into the role of Practice Manager, earning the position through her relentless hard work, leadership, and dedication to improving the patient experience.

Alissa thrives in a dynamic environment, ensuring smooth operations across all aspects of the medical centres. Her role involves coordinating staff, managing budgets, optimising patient care, and overseeing daily processes to ensure excellence in all areas.

Outside of work, Alissa enjoys spending quality time with her family, cherishing moments of relaxation and adventure. She loves camping, trips to the beach, and reading books that allow her to unwind and explore new perspectives. Balancing her professional and personal life with dedication, Alissa is an integral part of the growth and success of the medical centres she manages.

SENIOR MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST

Melinda has been a valued member of the Family First Medical Centre team since 2015, bringing over 25 years of experience in the medical industry. As one of our Senior Medical Receptionist, she plays a crucial role in managing various essential services, including WorkCover, medical reports, ADF transitions, insurance claims, and medical legal support for our patients.

With her qualifications in Certificate 3 in Business Administration, Certificate 3 in Medical Administration, and a Commission of Declarations, Melinda is well-equipped to assist with a wide range of administrative and medical services.

Outside of work, Melinda enjoys spending time at the beach and staying active at the gym. We’re proud to have Melinda as part of our team, delivering exceptional care and support to our patients every day.

SENIOR MEDICAL ADMINISTRATIOR

Maddie joined the Family First Medical Centre team in July 2020 and brings with her over 10 years of reception experience.

Throughout her time with us, Maddie has adapted to various responsibilities, including reception, assisting Dr. Norval in theatre, and training new team members. She has since transitioned to a remote role, supporting both the Family First and Graceville teams with administrative tasks.

Outside of work, Maddie enjoys spending quality time with her husband, children, and pups, whether at the beach or out camping. We’re proud to have Maddie’s experience and dedication as part of our team.

SENIOR MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST

Beverley joined Family First Medical Centre in February 2021 and quickly became an integral part of our team. As Senior Medical Receptionist, she leads our front reception staff, ensuring we provide exceptional service and care to our patients. Beverley is also responsible for training our administrative team and working closely with our Practice Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the clinic.

With a background in various fields, Beverley’s true passion lies in the medical industry, where she brings both experience and dedication to her role.

Outside of work, Beverley enjoys spending quality time with her family and unwinding by watching TV series. We’re proud to have Beverley’s leadership and expertise on our team at Family First Medical Centre.

SENIOR MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST

Michelle became part of the Family First Medical Centre team in January 2022 as a Medical Receptionist and has since taken on a senior role, assisting Beverley in leading our front-of-house team. With over 10 years of experience in administration, Michelle plays a key role in ensuring that our patients receive exceptional service and support.

Michelle is deeply passionate about helping patients and always strives to provide the best care possible. Her dedication to our team and patients makes her a valued asset at Family First Medical Centre.

Outside of work, Michelle enjoys spending her weekends with family, relaxing at the beach, and visiting the movie theatre. We are proud to have Michelle’s expertise and commitment as part of our team.

MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST

Sophie joined the Family First Medical Centre team in March 2024 as a Medical Receptionist. She is passionate about her role, finding great fulfillment in supporting and providing for our patients’ needs. Sophie’s friendly and caring nature ensures every patient feels welcome and well taken care of.

Outside of work, Sophie enjoys spending quality time with her family, including her grandchildren and pets. She is an avid lover of the outdoors and enjoys gardening, fishing, and camping. We are thrilled to have Sophie as part of our team, bringing her warmth and dedication to every patient interaction.

MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST

Ella has been a valued member of the Family First Medical Centre team since January 2022. As a Medical Receptionist, Ella is dedicated to providing excellent care and support to our patients, always ensuring they feel welcomed and well taken care of. Her caring and compassionate approach to patient interactions makes her an integral part of our team.

Outside of work, Ella enjoys spending her weekends with family and has a passion for baking, often spending time in the kitchen creating delicious treats. We are proud to have Ella’s warmth and dedication as part of the Family First family.

JUNIOR MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST

Tilly is a valued member of the Family First Medical Centre team, having joined us this year. With a natural passion for helping others, she thrives in supporting patients and ensuring their experience is as smooth and comfortable as possible. Tilly is eager to expand her knowledge and skills, gaining valuable experience in both theatre administration and reception. Her enthusiasm for learning and her dedication to her role make her an asset to our team.

When she’s not at work, Tilly enjoys spending time with loved ones, whether it’s camping weekends with friends, long beach walks with her dog, Oscar. Her caring and thoughtful nature extends beyond her professional role, and she brings that same warmth to every aspect of her life.

MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST

Debbie joined the Family First Medical Centre team in March 2025 as a Medical Receptionist. With seven years of experience in administration and 30 years as a sales representative, Debbie brings a wealth of knowledge and professionalism to her role. She is dedicated to helping patients with the utmost care and efficiency, ensuring that their experience is as smooth and positive as possible.

Outside of work, Debbie enjoys spending quality time with her family, including her beloved dogs (whom she lovingly refers to as her “fur kids”). She also has a passion for line dancing with friends and has a keen interest in classic cars.

MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST

Lynda Callander has been a Medical Receptionist at Family First Medical Centre since October 2024. In her role, Lynda takes great pride in being part of a team that provides exceptional care, especially in the critical area of skin cancer detection and treatment. While she may not be directly involved in medical procedures, Lynda feels fortunate to contribute, even in a small way, to the life-changing work that the doctors do for their patients.

Outside of her professional life, Lynda is a devoted mum who enjoys spending quality time with her family and pets. She also loves walking on the beach, cherishing the peaceful moments with her loved ones. Lynda finds fulfillment in knowing that her work at Family First Medical Centre helps improve the health and well-being of the community.

JUNIOR THEATRE ADMIN

Dayana joined the Family First Medical Centre team in September 2023 as a Junior Theatre Admin. Currently working with us as part of a school-based apprenticeship, Dayana is passionate about healthcare and has aspirations of becoming a doctor in the future. Her dedication and enthusiasm make her a valuable addition to our team as she gains hands-on experience in the medical field.

Outside of work, Dayana enjoys spending her weekends with family and friends. We are excited to support Dayana on her journey and look forward to seeing her grow in the medical profession.

JUNIOR THEATRE ADMIN

Anabel joined the Family First Medical Centre team in February 2024 as a Junior Theatre Admin. Currently working with us as part of a school-based apprenticeship, Anabel is passionate about healthcare and aspires to become a nurse in the future. Her enthusiasm and commitment to learning make her a valuable member of our team.

In her spare time, Anabel enjoys playing netball and cherishing quality moments with her friends and family. We are excited to support Anabel on her journey and look forward to watching her grow in the medical field.

JUNIOR THEATRE ADMIN

Charlotte joined the team at Family First Medical Centre this year as a Theatre Administrator and has quickly embraced the opportunity to grow within a medical workplace setting. She is grateful for the hands-on experience and the chance to expand her skills in the field. Charlotte’s ambition is to become a neurological nurse once she completes her studies, and she is dedicated to gaining the knowledge and experience needed to achieve that goal.

Outside of work, Charlotte enjoys spending quality time with her animals, family, and friends. She also loves visiting the beach, where she can relax and recharge. Her passion for caring and helping others shines through both in her professional aspirations and her personal life.

SENIOR REGISTERED NURSE

Jade returned to Family First Medical Centre in June 2022 as our Senior Nurse, bringing with her over 12 years of nursing experience. Having previously worked with the Family First team for 8 years before her time at Hervey Bay Hospital, Jade is excited to be back and leading our nursing team once again.

As a Registered Nurse, Jade manages the nursing staff and is responsible for overseeing the care of our DVA (Department of Veterans Affairs) Gold Card patients. Her extensive experience and leadership ensure that our patients receive the highest standard of care.

Outside of work, Jade enjoys spending time with her family, playing the piano, and reading books. We are thrilled to have Jade back on the team and look forward to the continued excellence she brings to our practice.

REGISTERED NURSE

Nurse Anita joined the Family First Medical Centre team in May 2022 when she moved to Hervey Bay with her family. With over 25 years of nursing experience, Anita is a highly skilled Registered Nurse who works closely with our doctors to ensure the best possible care for our patients. Her dedication to meeting the diverse needs of those in our care makes her an invaluable member of our team.

Outside of work, Anita enjoys spending time with her family, taking walks along the beach, and exploring new places through travel. We are fortunate to have Anita’s wealth of experience and compassionate approach as part of the Family First Medical Centre team.

ENROLLED NURSE (CURRENTLY ON MATURNITY LEAVE)

Nurse Jess joined the Family First Medical Centre team in March 2023 as an Enrolled Nurse. Originally from Canberra, Jess relocated to Hervey Bay in 2020 to complete her Diploma in Nursing. With a strong background in general practice, Jess has developed a deep passion for working closely with patients to deliver the highest standard of care.

Jess is happily married and enjoys spending her free time at the beach, as well as making memories with her family and dogs. We are excited to have Jess on our team, where her commitment to patient care and compassionate approach make a real difference to those we serve.

REGISTERED NURSE

Jess rejoined the Family First Medical Centre team in May 2024 as a Registered Nurse, bringing with her over a decade of experience in community nursing and preventative care. Having worked with our team for six years before transitioning to the Primary Health Network (PHN), Jess returned to general practice nursing because of her deep passion for clinical care and chronic disease management.

With 11 years of hands-on experience in nursing, Jess is dedicated to promoting health and well-being in the community. Her extensive background in preventative care allows her to help patients proactively manage their health, with a special focus on chronic disease management. Jess finds immense fulfillment in providing compassionate care and supporting her patients through all stages of their health journey.

Outside of her professional life, Jess has a true passion for traveling, always eager to explore new places and cultures. She also loves attending live shows and concerts, as music is one of her greatest joys. When she’s at home, Jess cherishes quality time with her wife, kids, and extended family, always seeking to make the most of every moment with her loved ones.

Carmen joined our Family First Medical Centre team in March 2025 and has quickly become an integral part of our care team. A Registered Nurse since 2020, Carmen brings a wealth of experience and a true passion for patient care. She thrives in the dynamic environment of the medical field, where every day offers new opportunities to learn and apply her nursing skills. Carmen especially enjoys the daily interactions with patients and staff, finding fulfillment in providing compassionate care and being part of a collaborative team. The variety in her role keeps her energized and motivated, knowing that each day is a new opportunity to make a positive impact.

Outside of her professional life, Carmen enjoys spending time at the beach, where she can unwind and enjoy nature. She also cherishes time with family and friends and is a dedicated fan of live music, particularly country artists. Attending concerts is one of her favorite ways to relax and connect with her passions.
